Encountering sickness is a profound aspect of the human experience,
allowing the heart and soul to engage deeply with vulnerability, resilience,
and the infinite mercy of Allah. The profound words of these dual for the sick act
as a serene balm, softly touching the area of pain, reinforcing the profound realization
that healing flows graciously from the vast ocean of Allah’s mercy and compassion.
The art of making dua is a spiritual journey, an intimate conversation between the creation
and the Creator. The divine power imbued within the words “la shifa’a illa shifa’uka” reveals
the essence of total dependence on Allah, the ultimate Healer.
Dua for Seeking Protection
Another important dua that comes highly recommended by scholars, including Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah
in Al-Sharh Al-Mumti, is derived from the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when a person
complained of pain. He would recite: “Udhu bika minal-barasi, wal-junooni, wal-judhaam,
wa sayyi’il-asqaam” meaning “I seek refuge and protection in the perfect words of Allah from every
evil and every poisonous pest and from every evil eye.” This dua, safeguarding against the evil eye
and other harmful conditions, reinforces the essence of reliance on Allah’s divine decree.
There are many dua for someone sick written in Quran and also dictated by many prophets.
They are very effective. Many people get heals using this dua. So you can say,
it has ultimate power.
Dua for someone sick from the Sunnah
It means, oh Allah! The sustainer of Humankind! Remove my sickness and cure my illness.
You are the one who is the most powerful. There is no healing except the one that you do.
Grant me the healing that leaves no sickness.
This is one of the most potent dua. Therefore, many prophets vouch for this one.
Many fewer followers know this dua. Now that you know it note it down. And share
with the needy person.
Dua For Someone Who is Very Sick
It means I have nothing. I am nothing. You are my everything. I am your slave.
Below your blessings upon me. Hey Allah! Hey, paravdigaar! You are capable of everything.
Free me from these shackles of illness. I seek your sympathy.
Here is one more dua for someone sick. It was narrated from abu sal ad-khudri (may all be pleased with her)
that the Prophet (may the blessing and peace of Allah be with him) described this dua as a ruqyah,
and he approved of the sahaabi who chanted this as a ruqyah for the one who is sick.
Make him sit or at least ask him to bend his knee, sit on his one knee and drink it.
The patient would start feeling better the moment he drinks this water. Similarly, day by
day he will get cured. So, make him drink this water every day.
Make Dua For Everything
Another beautiful reminder to hold onto, is that we should strive to make dua like a child.
Children make dua for the most trivial of things. They also ask for things with incredible
sincerity and detail. This is exactly how we should be when forming our duas.
The scholars say that it is better for a dua to be detailed and specific,
than undetailed and general. In other words, tell Allah exactly what you want.
